About M

Artist | Creative Entrepreneur | Facilitator | LGBTQIA+ Spiritual Care | People & Culture Steward

I work with others to build empowered communication and to create resilient, inclusive, and vibrant lives, communities, and workplaces centering agency, connection, liberation, presence, and wholeness. I am passionate about social justice and promoting peace, healing, and transformation at the individual, community, organizational, and societal levels.

Greetings! My name is M Rudder (they/them/their). I am Japanese-American, non-binary, trans, and queer individual currently living on unceded Pocumtuc/Nipmuc land. I hold an MSc. from Champlain College in Applied Conflict Studies with a concentration in Organizational Development, a BFA in Fibers & Textiles from Maryland Institute College of Art, and a certificate in Spiritual Direction from Still Harbor. I have studied aspects of Buddhism, Christianity, Daoism, Islam, and Judaism. I have learned from elders of indigenous traditions across the world – China, Mexico, Peru, South Africa, West Africa – and here in the US.

I am grounded in the fine arts, writing, trauma-informed embodiment and earth-based practices, restorative justice practices, anti-racism, peace circles, conflict management, and organizational development. I have worked inside the reproductive justice movement for 18 years and in support of indigenous communities and lifeways for 14 years. In the past, I have also been part of supporting education reform and destigmatizing mental health disorders. I bring the wholeness of my life and my experiences to this work and invite the people that I work with to do the same. We can no longer afford to live our lives in a way that disconnects us from ourselves, or those around us at home, in our communities, and in our workplaces.

When I am not in my studio writing or creating, I can be found meditating, playing with and learning from my dog, biking, learning about medicinal plants, spiritual traditions, and religions across the world, and spending time with my partner.
